When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is check my phone (don’t we all), but the first person I get a message from is God. Every morning this app Daily Inspirations sends me a bible verse to start my day off with. I might (and most likely do) have tons of other important messages to respond to, but He’s the first person I want to hear from. God motivates me. It was not always like this for me. Not until I began my journey at OSU did I find myself reallyyy yearning to spend more time with God and my savior, Jesus Christ. I absolutely NEED my whispers with Him, before the screams and demands from the world. You feel me? I don’t know if you are a student-athlete involved in a ton of things in college like me, but whatever your hustle is, all of us need something or someone to motivate us to take on and WIN each day of our lives. My dad use to always tell me and my sisters,
“I understand some people will choose not to believe in the Lord we serve, but what I will never understand is those people who choose to not believe in anything”. We all need that undeniable faith to lean on in order to survive.
Now, this blog post isn’t a way to make anyone not a Christain change their religion. I just want to share with others how my faith in God literally changed the way I take on each day. The picture you see above is a mirror (my mirror) full of sticky notes that each have something inspiring and positive for me to look at every day. Not all of them have to do with my faith in Christ. Some are song lyrics, affirmations from the people I love, etc. However, they do have one simple thing in common: positive motivation. I don’t know if you all have ever heard the saying from Mahatma Gandhi, but, “your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny”. It all starts in what you believe in!
If you believe you are going to fail, most likely you will. If you believe you will succeed, I guarantee you, YOU WILL. So many times in life I proved people wrong who might of thought I couldn’t achieve something by simply refusing to believe what they say and believing in what I knew God could push me to. You might not succeed in exactly what you wanted. Sometimes even with a tremendous amount in faith, I still fell short, BUT with that winning attitude you’ll never stop fighting and in my opinion, that’s success. So, I challenge you all to find WHAT MOTIVATES YOU. Not what motivates me, your mom, boyfriend, etc…but YOU!
