Your Body Is a Temple…How To Take Care Of It

Self-love is one of the greatest gifts you can give to not only yourself, but others. It is such a beautiful sight to see someone comfortable in their own skin. For me, running is one way in how I show love back to myself. I am a track and field athlete, but I do hope to continue to stay fit once I graduate. Of course there won’t be any more exhilarating experiences like making it to the NCAA Nationals, or competing with my teammates against some of the top talent in the country, but there still will remain the positive endorphins rushing through my body by exercising and pushing myself to new limits. That’s really what it is all about. Making yourself grow and reaching goals you have never imagined reaching! Keeping your body healthy is a great way to start to show love back to yourself. Find something you like to do to stay active. Your body will def appreciate it! If cardio isn’t your thing, I recommend yoga. I absolutely love practicing yoga for both its physical benefits and mental as well.

Yoga is simply the practice of breathing, but when you incorporate all of the body movements and postures, it really pushes your mind and body to a whole new level of strength. I encourage everyone to check out a yoga class near you. Since I’ve been practicing yoga, I’ve learned new ways to stay relaxed in uncomfortable situations, flexibility in life and with my body. Also it helps sharpen my focus skills too! Another stress reliever I use other than yoga to take care of my mind, body and soul is BOXING! Last summer I had a lot of things to let go of and boxing with my trainer was one way I found release. You don’t have to find a trainer to practice boxing (please don’t practice on people or cars like me lol), but you can take group classes! I know at my gym (LifeTime Fitness) they offer a class called “Strike”. It’s a full body kickboxing class that is worth your while!!

​While all of these are ways I personally keep a healthy mind, body, and soul. I do have one last way to continue to show love to your temple and that is through Jesus Christ. Spiritual health controls everything. It’s the center of your being…the heart! You can never truly succeed at anything with an unhappy heart. Wherever you are in your walk with Christ or if you aren’t at all, I personally will be praying you find Him!! He’s one of my best friends! Go on walks with God, talk to Him, date Him, LOVE Him! You will begin to see yourself in this new light… “because whoever finds Christ, FINDS LIFE” Enjoy!
